God is in the restoration business. No one can testify to this more than Paulette Harper, as she does in, That Was Then, This is Now: This Broken Vessel Restored.
In That Was Then, This is Now, Ms. Harper attempts to answer two important questions and she does a tremendous job in answering them. The two questions are: How could God have a purpose for me amidst this mess? and Why do such bad things happen to good people? She is able to answer these two questions after going through a broken marriage and disappointed dreams. Her search for meaning through all this upheaval in her life drew her to a closer dependence on God. Ms. Harper writes: "In my own personal experience, it took me years to get through the effects of the divorce. But by the grace of God I made it through. I had to realize that God was doing some new things in my life that required me to rely on Him like I never had before...I was now in a position of total dependence on Him and no one else" (p. 90).

One thing that was emphasized in That Was Then, This is Now, is the fact that no matter what you face, be it good or bad, God expects you to finish your assignment that He gives you. There are many encouraging words printed on the pages of this book. To me, the most encouraging is stated in the following: "Don't wait till you see the manifestation, start praising Him right now. Praise your way through the pain, hurt, hard places, trenches, and trials."

That Was Then, This is Now is not just for the divorced. It is for anyone who, for whatever reason, is hurting, living a shattered life, or who is going through turmoil. You can sense the anointing of God on this book.
